BOSCH RE55 External Alternator RegulatorThe Bosch RE55 external alternator regulator is similar to the standard integral regulators fitted to alternators but it has a wire link that can be cut to boost the output of the alternator by 1 Volt. It is therefore very useful to to compensate for the voltage drop across a diode splitter. Note that this is not a smart regulator, it is a basic automotive type regulator. Also useful as an emergency standby unit for smart regulators. Requires negative connection to the case. |

AMPLE POWER SARV3 Alternator RegulatorsIn it's latest form the Next Step Regulator is available as the Smart Alternator Regulator Version 3, or SARV3. The SARV3 provides fast, full, multi-step charging. Compatible with all battery types, this regulator allows the user to select charge set-points. Other features include a short-proof free field driver, improved low current regulation, faster response time to reduce voltage surges when loads are disconnected, battery equalisation function with automatic termination, current limiting option (e.g. for when full motoring power is required), automatic compensation for battery temperature, smart (ie not fixed) absorption timing, battery type selection by dipswitches, signal outputs for remote status and alarm monitoring and a pluggable terminal point for easy connection and disconnection. The SARV3 has an output that allows the fitment of a paralleling solenoid between battery banks, obviating the need to fit voltage sensitive relays or diode splitters. This function is active even when the alternator is not charging so that the batteries will also be parallel connected when another external source such as a shore power charger, solar modules or a wind generator feeds charge to the batteries. Installation is straightforward, but the instructions provided must be followed to the letter. Battery temperature sensor included. This regulator is suitable ony for positive field regulation (P-type alternators). |

AMPLE POWER Dual Alternator ControllersIf two alternators driven by different engines are to be controled by one Ample Power regulator, the Dual Alternator Controller needs to be fitted. All the Ample Power regulators are capable of controlling two alternators without this controller provided that the alternators are being driven by the same engine. |

XANTREX Alternator RegulatorThe Xantrex Alternator Regulator has fully potted circuitry (epoxy encapsulated) and a complete wiring harness. Selectable charging programs for gel, AGM, Flooded Lead Acid and Deep-Cycle FLA batteries. Optional user programmable time and voltage options. This is the same regulator as the BALMAR MaxCharge MC-412, an older version of the current BALMAR MC-612 (see part number 105016). It has similar regulating patters to the BALMAR MC-612, but has fewer pre-set charging programs and uses flashing led indicators instead of the three digit alpha-numeric display, so programming is less user friendly. This regulator is suitable ony for positive field regulation (P-type alternators). |

BALMAR ARS-5 Smart External Alternator RegulatorThe BALMAR ARS-5 Smart Alternator Regulator is a 12V P-type regulator and has fully potted circuitry (epoxy encapsulated) to give maximum protection against moisture and vibrations. It is supplied with a complete wiring harness. The BALMAR ARS-5 has five pre-set selectable charging programs for Flooded Lead Acid, Deep-Cycle FLA, Gel, AGM and spiral wound AGM (Optima) batteries as well as selectable alternator load limits (i.e. derating) to protect smaller alternators and to limit belt wear. A three digit alpha-numeric display makes programming and fault finding very easy. Programming of the BALMAR ARS-5 takes place by means of a sealed reed switch, which is controlled by a magnetic probe that is supplied with the unit. Battery temperature sensors (strongly recommended, see part no 105905) and alternator temperature sensors (optional, see part no 105906) can be connected to this regulator to afford additional protection to the alternator and batteries and to optimise performance in cold conditions (output compensation). Additional output terminals are provided for optional connection of a remote mounted status indicator lamp or buzzer. Provision has been made for connecting to an unrectified stator winding, which allows the tachometer output terminal on the regulator to be used and prevents tacho signal dropout when the batteries reach full charge. This is a sophisticated smart regulator that is easy to install and program and is suited to most battery systems commonly found on boats. Dimensions 117mm x 81mm x 38mm(h). Sensors for Smart RegulatorsThe fitment of temperature sensors for smart regulators is highly recommended or in some cases essential for the correct functioning of the smart regulator. Note that the AMPLE POWER Next Step 2 and SARV3 regulators are supplied with sensors as part of the standard scope of supply. |
