Victron Isolation Transformers

Isolation transformers prevent electrolytic corrosion and above all serve as a device to guarantee a safe electric system. When a boat is connected to shore-power the ground cable that is essential for protection of human life will lead to galvanic corrosion of any metal parts of the boat exposed to water, particularly sea-water. By fitting an isolation transformer into the shore power feed, the electrical continuity between the shore power and the boat is interrupted. The shore power is connected to the primary windings of the transformer and the boat to the secondary. The boat is completely isolated from the shore ground. By connecting all metal parts in the boat to to the neutral output on the secondary side of the transformer, an earth leakage breaker or fuse will blow in the event of a short circuit. Human safety is thus protected whilst the boat is not subjected to galvanic corrosion. When the boat is taken out of the water, the secondary neutral of the transformer should be connected to ground whilst wirk is done on the boat. Toroidal wound transformer technology ensures quietness and high efficiency. Soft start circuitry will ensure that the shore circuit breaker will not trip due to high inrush currents when plugged in. Indispensable in professional marine energy systems. The transformers rated 230V are pure isolation transformers. The transformers rated 115/230V can be used as pure isolation transformers at either voltage or as step-up or step-down isolation transformers. Note that the frequency will not be changed!

Electrolysis Blocker

The Electrolysis Blocker is designed to address the corrosion problem that occurs when dissimilar vessel hulls and/or structural materials are electrically connected to a common ground. The Electrolysis Blocker (galvanic isolator) provides galvanic (corrosion) protection while connected to shore power supply. Interrupting the earthing wire, which is used as a return path when an electrical fault occurs, is very serious. It is also a path where stray (corrosion) currents occur. The heavy-duty design of the Blocker allows it to safely carry these fault currents whilst remaining sensitive enough to block stray galvanic currents while connected to shore power. Connection is very simple, the earth cable to the shorepower conection is cut and the Electrolysis Blocker is series connected into the cable.

195100 Electrolysis blocker $ 330.00

GUEST Galvanic Isolator

GUEST Galvanic Isolators protect boats from galvanic corrosion and metal loss that can cause thousands of dollars in damage. These isolators block DC current from flowing through shore power cable and thus prevent galvanic corrosion due to dissimilar metals between boats. The integrity of the AC earth connection is not compromised, ensuring safety from electrocution. Gold plated terminals provide superior corrosion resistance for exposure to harsh environments. BEP GUEST galvanic isolators are ignition protected and carry a five year warranty. Rated 30A at 50C. 115-230VAC 50/60 Hz. Dimensions 197mm x 127mm x 63.5mmh, weight 1.75kg

195110 Galvanic Isolator BEP GUEST 30A $ 615.00
195119 Remote indicator for BEP GUEST galvanic isolator $ 40.00
